Brought to us by The Broke and the Bookish!
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is to talk about the ten characters we just didn’t click with. I know some of mine will shock you guys so please don’t beat me up!
Let’s start the drama with…..
Ok, ok! I know this will be an unpopular opinion but Dorian just doesn’t do anything for me, as a character. I find him to be mostly boring and somewhat annoying. I think he’s a bit of a silly character, but after the events of Heir of Fire I am curious to see how those events might change his character. For me Chaol and Rowan are far more compelling male characters than Dorian.
Ok here is another unpopular opinion but I just do not get the appeal of Edward Cullen! He’s moody and indecisive and a bit stalker-y and quite controlling. I mean, if some guy tried to tell me who I could and could not be friends with, I would not be cool with that. Ugh, Edward you are so ridiculous. lol! I would have picked Jacob, just saying. 🙂
Gale was not a likable character for me. I mean, he’s ok in the first book because we really don’t see him except through Katniss’ memories and he’s a pretty ok person in those memories. But as soon as she comes back to the district in book 2, he is so weird. Like, she’s dealing with some seriously heavy stuff right now, and Gale is all worried about making her love him. Can’t he see that she has more important things going on that figuring out if she loves him or not. She literally just got out of the hunger games and she’s being threatened by the Captiol. Priorities, Gale, priorities!
I just could not get into America as a character, personally. I know she is a great favorite right now, bu I just couldn’t get behind her. She’s so fickle! She changes her mind about who she loves so frequently. I don’t just mean from book to book, but even several times within a chapter. One minute she loves one guy, then she turns the corner and sees the other guy and literally is telling herself that she loves him instead. Reading from America’s point of view was like have love triangle whiplash lol!
from The Selection series
Just kind of felt “meh” about Aspen throughout the whole series. I never really understood what America liked about him. It wasn’t that I didn’t like him, just that I didn’t feel like we ever really got to know him. He really did seem to just be in the series to add a love triangle, rather than being his own character.
I wasn’t overly impressed by any of the characters in Pawn, but Benji in particular is so weird to me. I don’t think I’ve ever met a less interesting or believable love interest. He is so very bland, and we never see any reason for he and Kitty to love each other. Its very strange.
