This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is top ten Debut authors who I’m looking forward to their sophomore novels, or sophomore novels just as good or better than the originals

I’m really looking forward to the sequel to Shattered Blue (<-links to my review) which is Lauren’s debut novel in a planned trilogy. The first one follows a human girl who meets and falls for an exiled fae boy. Their love is a bit in the “insta” category but things soon go quite wrong and the book is full of plot twists, especially near the end. Some of the twists at the end made me really eager to see what happens next! The next book doesn’t yet have a title or release date.

The Glass Sword, which is the sequel to The Red Queen. I was feeling kind of “meh” about The Red Queen as I read it, but I feel that it has a lot of potential that it hasn’t lived up to yet. I think its sequel will either make or break the series for me. This is a dystopian where a girl has powers she shouldn’t have, and she’s forced to live with the aristocracy and pretend to me one of them. Of course, everything goes wrong that could, and theres the expected love triangle as well. But it shows promise as a series, I think!

Release date: Feb. 9, 2016

Ok this one is kind of cheating because both Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff have written books before Illuminae, BUT they have never written a book together before so I’m going to go ahead and count it as a debut novel! I am freaking out about Illuminae (<-links to my review) because it was so flipping amazing! Mind-blowing! Fantasamatical! Ok I made that one up. Anyway, the point is that I cannot wait for the sequel. I. can. not. wait.!

The sequel to An Ember in the Ashes is coming April 26, 2016 and its called A Torch Against the Night. I enjoyed an Ember in the Ashes although I didn’t completely love it. But I was left looking quite forward to the sequel and its coming soon!

  1. Ah! I’m so happy that I’m not the only one who was disappointed with Red Queen, especially after all the glowing praise it received. I’m not sure that I can stomach reading Glass Sword, but perhaps I will follow your example and attempt to give the series a shot. Still, I hated reading from Mare’s POV. *sigh*

    • I know, I was surprised because it is so popular, but I didn’t think it compared to a lot of other additions to that genre. I’m going to give it one more chance and basically I’m hoping we get someone else’s POV as well lol
