This will be a quick blog post but I know a lot of librarians want to know how to make the “BookTok” videos on TikTok where it looks like one book “transitions” into another book. See example video below. These videos are a really fun way librarians can use tiktok to create engaging “digital displays” of books in the collection. Whenever I create these little BookTok videos and post them to our library’s instagram, we usually always end up having students come in the next day asking to checkout some of the books that I featured in the video, so its a great way of marketing & promoting the books in the library.

I created a couple of tutorial videos to teach librarians a few different “transition” techniques, and how to use TikTok to make the videos. They’re actually pretty easy to do, and really fun. There are three video tutorials and they basically increase in difficulty as you go down so give the first one a try and see how it goes. I think you’ll find it somewhat addicting! Don’t forget that you can create a TikTok account for free and then easily create these kinds of videos.

*protip* If you’re not in the mood to actually build a following on TikTok, thats ok! You can always simply set your account to private, create & post the videos (no one will be able to see them if you have it private) and then you can just download your video off TikTok so you can upload it to whichever social media platforms your library is using. You don’t have to invest fully in building a platform on TikTok in order to benefit from and utilize the tiktok video editor tool. You can always just download the videos off tiktok after you create them and then share them elsewhere.
