Kelsey is a high school Librarian, adjunct MSLIS Professor, and a professional Speaker/Presenter who enjoys helping librarians learn to leverage the power of social media for their library’s advocacy, collection development, outreach, and community-building efforts. Kelsey is an outspoken advocate for reform in the library profession, especially as relates to outdated collection organization and development traditions. She is particularly proud to have created the library organization concept Dynamic Shelving and of her ongoing work to redevelop her library towards greater inclusivity, accessibility, and equity.

In the last several years Kelsey has presented nationally and internationally at conferences and events such as ALA 2021 & 2022, PETE&C 2018, PSLA 2018 & 2019, ASLA 2021, TLA 2021, TASL 2021, KASL 2021, QSLiN 2022, ISTE 2023 (upcoming), and the Library Journal and School Library Journal’s Crash Course Curriculum. Kelsey regularly also presents P.D. for various library associations, school districts, public library consortiums, and more. Kelsey has been published in Information Today (2023), Infobase (2021 & 2022), Demco (2023), and SCIS Data (2020), and her work has also been featured in ALA’s American Libraries, BookRiot, Knowledge Quest, SLJ’s Teen Librarian Toolbox, Publisher’s Weekly, and more!

I enjoy speaking and presenting (virtually or in person) both nationally and internationally. If you would like to book me to speak or present at your event or to your library staff, email me by filling out the contact form below!

A little bit about Don’t Shush Me…

This blog began in 2014 as an assignment in my Young Adult Literature course. I’ve decided to transition the blog at this time into a Librarian blog, where I can reflect on and share my experiences. Hopefully this reflection will help as I strive to improve my practice, and maybe help connect other librarians, educators, information professionals, etc.

This is a personal blog and the views found here do not reflect that of my employer.

  2. What kind of tape did you use on the edges of the bookshelves for your dynamic shelving? Something that sticks well, but not permanent.
